Ratio and Proportion:

Work out the following:

1. Share £35 in the ratio of 3:2
2. Share £156 in the ratio of 5:1
3. Share £1800 in the ratio of 7:2
4. Share £684 in the ratio of 5:4
5. Share £560 in the ratio of 5:3

1. Write 24:48 in ts simplest form.
2. Write 17:51 in its simplest form.
3. Write 78:390 in its simplest form
4. Flower bouquets were made with daisies and carnations. In total, 56 daisies and 84 carnations were used. What is the ratio of daisies to carnations?

5.  Lulu and Tom are sharing a packet of sweets in a ratio of 1:5. If there were 60 sweets in the packet, how many sweets would Tom get?

6. Green paint is made from tins of blue and yellow paint. To make 1 bucket of green paint you need 2 tins of blue paint and 5 tins of yellow paint  How many tins of blue paint is needed to make 5 buckets of green paint?

7. 50 children were swimming in a pool.  4 out of every 10 children were boys. How many girls were swimming in the pool?

8. 28 passengers were travelling in a coach. There was 1 child for every 3 adults. How many children were there in the coach?

9. Sam went for strawberry picking and picked 56 strawberries. 1 out of every 8 strawberries was spoiled. How many strawberries were spoiled?

10. Citrus punch is made by adding 350 ml orange juice and 150 ml lemonade. How much lemonade do you need to make 5 litres of citrus punch?
