Timed Maths Questions 04/08/14 - Measures

1. Arrange the following masses from the smallest to the biggest:

980 g, 1 kg 70g, 1.703 kg, 1.34 kg

2. The capacity of a jar is 2.4 L. An oil bottle has 300 ml of oil. How many oil bottles can be emptied into the jar until it's full?

3. What is 15% of 400g?

4. The capacity of a jug is 3.5 litres. How many litres does it hold when it is 80% full?

5. A chocolate bar weighs 125 g. Jessie eats 3/5 of it. What is the mass of the chocolate bar that is left?

6. A car travels 10 km im 15 minutes. What distance does it travel in 2 hours? 

7. How many 200 ml cups can be filled with 4 litres of squash?

8. A man weighs 80 kg. He loses 8 kg. What fraction of weight does he lose? What is the percentage of weight loss?

9. How many grams is 2.09 kg less than 3 kg?

10. Sweets are packed in bags of 300 g. How many bags can be packed from 1.8 kg sweets?

11. Alex wants to cycle from Abvale to Dovale. The distance between the towns is 576 km. He cycles 1/6 of the total distance in day 1, 1/4 in day 2 and 1/3 in day 3. How far does he have cycled in 3 days?

12. Alex feeds his fish 8 grams of food daily. How long does 500g of fish food last? 

13. How much squash is made by adding four times as much water to 500 ml squash mix?

15. 500 g butter costs £2.25. How much does 2 kg butter cost?
