Algebra

1. A pack of tea bags cost £t. Anna bought 5 packs of tea bags. She bought a jar to put in the tea bags for £j. Write an expression to find the money Anna spent.

2. A car has 4 tyres. How many tyres are there in X cars?

Problem Solving

1. Tom is twice as heavy as his dog. Tom's father is three times as heavy as his son. If the dog weighs 11 kg, how much do they all weigh together?

2. Anna buys a sandwich, icecream and a drink. She pays with a £10 note and gets £3.50 in change. The ice cream costs 50p more than the drink and the sandwich costs twice as much as the drink. How much does the sandwich cost?

3. A bag has £1 and 50p coins in the ratio of 2:3. If there are 25 coins in the bag, how much money is in the bag?

4. The perimeter of a rectangle is 30 cm. The length of the rectangle is twice as much as its breadth. Calculate the length and breadth of the rectangle.

5. There are twice as many adults as children in a bus. There are 60 passengers in the bus. If 4 adults and 8 children got off in the next stop, what would be the ratio of adults to children in the bus?

6. What are the two 2 digit numbers whose sum is less than 40 and  product is 288?

7. The perimeter of a square paper is 40 cm. It is cut into two rectangular halves . What is the perimeter of one rectangular half ?
