Probability - Simple Problems

1. A basket has 5 apples, 7 pears and 8 peaches. You pick a fruit from the basket.

a. What is the probability of it being an apple? Express your answer as a fraction.

b. What is the probability of it being a peach?

c. What is the probability of it not being a pear? Express your answer as a percentage.

d. What is the probability of it being an apple or a pear? Express your answer as a fraction.

2. A bag has 12 black marbles, 20 red marbles, 8 green marbles and 8 blue marbles. You take a marble out.

a. What is the probability of it being a black? Express it as a percentage.

b. What is the probability of it being green?

c. What is the probability of it being green or red?

d. What is the probability of it not being not blue?

3. What is the probability of rolling an even number when you roll a fair dice?

4. What is the probability of rolling a prime number when you roll a  fair dice?

5. There is a deck of number cards from 1 to 15. 

Jack picks a number card.

a. What is the probability of him picking an even number card?

b. What is the probability of him picking a multiple of 3?

c. What is the probability of him picking a mulitiple of 2 or 3?

d. What is the probability of him picking a multiple of 4? Express it as a percentage.

7. If Mr. Smith drives 105 km in a week, what is the average distance he drives in a day?
